Connected, Committed, Community-minded: 2017 Corporate Social Responsibility Report
At Comcast NBCUniversal, giving back is a core value and has been since our founding more than 50 years ago. We remain committed to using our company’s full scope of talent and technology to make a long-term, positive impact on our communities.
We hope you take a moment to view our corporate citizenship story in our latest Corporate Social Responsibility Report. This tells the story of how we are striving to foster connections between individuals, our families and our communities. Through investments of more than $1.2 million in cash and in-kind support locally, we helped students like Joshua Baca from Ironwood Ridge High School in Oro Valley pay for part of his college tuition with our Leaders and Achievers® scholarship program. Joshua was one of the three high school seniors to receive a $5,000 Comcast Presidents Scholarship.
“I knew all the students would be receiving a $1,000 scholarship for our efforts in leadership and in the community, but I didn’t know I would be receiving a $5,000 scholarship. This is exciting!” – Joshua Baca
Nationally, Comcast provides more than $500 million in cash and in-kind contributions to more than 2,200 nonprofits across the country.
Our unparalleled storytelling and media platforms, combined with our innovative technology and community connections, bring us closer to moments that change people’s lives. It is a responsibility we take seriously and it is why we continue to focus on closing the digital divide so everyone has an equal opportunity at success in the 21st century. Since 2011, we connected 750,000 low-income families in America to the power of the internet in their homes, including more than 800 families in Arizona.
Throughout 2016, we collaborated with many local organizations to bridge the digital divide. For example, through our partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Tucson at the Pascua Yaqui Club House we are helping to bridge the digital divide by funding new STEM classroom spaces. Club members now have access to technology that allows them to edit videos, compose music, design digital art, and much more.
We will continue to work with local partners in Arizona to move our communities forward by expanding digital literacy, promoting service, and building tomorrow’s leaders.
