Operation Red Shirt
Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona hosted a 3-day camp for some very special girls this summer at Camp Whispering Pines in Mount Lemmon, Arizona.
Operation Red Shirt is a free camp organized just for girls from military families. The camp gave the girls the opportunity to bond over the challenges and sacrifices that they are forced to make as a child of the military. Two of the campers bonded over the discovery that their families were both stationed in Germany and the girls attended the same school, but only at different times! The girls also had fun together by participating in hiking trips, low ropes, archery classes, arts and crafts, and a dance party!
“We want to thank you again for giving these girls the opportunity to just have fun and not worry about their current situation,” said Coco Hunter, Director of Community Relations and Events, Girls Scouts of Southern Arizona. “They have to sacrifice so much, and we are truly grateful that we can provide them with an opportunity to say thank you for all they do!”
