Comcast supports the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson and their programming to help youth explore their interests, develop their potential and succeed in school and beyond.
Recently, teens participating in the Boys and Girls Pascua Yaqui Keystone Club, traveled to New York to visit NYU and Columbia University as part of the Club’s youth leadership and development program. The students were surprised with a VIP tour of the Comcast NBCUniversal studios at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
On Friday, June 8, Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson held its 27th Annual Steak & Burger Dinner & Awards Ceremony to honor high-achieving Southern Arizona students with Youth of the Year Awards and college scholarships.
Rosalinda Cancio, a Pascua Yaqui Clubhouse Member for 10 years, was presented with a special $2,500 Comcast Academic Achiever Scholarship Award. As an added surprise, all of the student Awardees received Comcast-funded laptops, fully loaded with Microsoft Office products and Norton Antivirus, to better equip them for the next stage of their academic careers.
“I would like to thank Comcast for the scholarship award as it’s going to help me further my education and get me closer to my goal of becoming a veterinarian,” said Rosalinda.
Comcast also works with youth attending the Pascua Yaqui Clubhouse to foster digital literacy skills through the My.Future program, designed to ignite young people’s passion for technology.
