Lift Zone Locations Launched Across Southern Arizona, Connecting People to Free High-Speed WiFi

Our Lift Zone has helped us keep students connected during COVID-19. Our regular facility was not built to withstand a large number of devices. Now, more than 25 laptops, tablets and computers can provide programming to our members at one time.” – Adam Ortiz, Boys and Girls Club of Tucson Pascua Yaqui Clubhouse Director.

As part of Comcast’s ongoing commitment to help connect more Arizonans to the internet, we recently announced four Lift Zone locations across Southern Arizona are now available to students and adults needing to access critical resources through the internet. This initiative provides free high-speed WiFi connectivity and access to hundreds of hours of educational and digital skills content to help Arizonans and site coordinators navigate online learning. Additionally, through Comcast funding, many Lift Zones receive laptops and other smart devices to help better serve the community.

Our goal was to work closely with community organizations to launch Lift Zones in convenient areas, so folks can easily get to access high-speed WiFi and receive digital equity wrap-around services – and we did just that!

Lift Zones provide Arizonans with a space to participate in distance learning and an avenue to complete homework. Adults also visit Lift Zones to work remotely, look for or apply for a job and learn digital skills.
